How Does Adderall Function?

How Does Adderall work?

Adderall function as a prescription drug in treating narcolepsy and Attention Deficit or Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD). It’s a central nervous stimulant that influences the body’s nervous system and brain by increasing the release of norepinephrine and dopamine in the body. The drug offers effective treatment for disorganization, fidgeting, forgetfulness, lack of concentration, frequent interrupting, and excessive talking.

Adderall Function: Dosage and Precautions

Recommended dosages for children and adults are 40 mg and 60 mg respectively.

Avoid consuming Adderall with Vitamin C because since this could minimize its intended effect. Alcohol should never be taken with the drug to curb poisoning. Mixing Amphetamine salts in Adderall isn’t something for everyone.

Adderall IR can be consumed orally. Its effects can typically last at around four hours. But the other version, Adderall XR, can last as long as 12 hours. The drug is only available in 5 mg to 30 mg versions. It is highly recommended to take Adderall on an empty stomach for best results.

People who have ADHD can use this drug to keep calm and increase concentration. For those with excessive sleepiness, it works by stimulating the central nervous system.

Mechanism

The drug functions by increasing norepinephrine and dopamine levels to achieve a euphoric-like feeling.

The drug reaches peak levels in the blood within 1 to 2 hours of administration. Effects of the drug can be prolonged for as long as one day. Intake frequency should only be limited to two to three times daily. Otherwise, the drug should be consumed as directed by the physician.

Adderall is a blend of two mirror versions of dextroamphetamine: amphetamine, and levoamphetamine. The use of amphetamine could lead to a number of side effects including blood pressure, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, chest pain, seizures, fever, paranoia, and sleeplessness.

The drug is manufactured using a combination of dextroamphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine saccharate, amphetamine sulfate, and amphetamine aspartate.

Uses

Since dopamine levels are increased considerably with the use of this drug, it excites the nucleus accumbens. Epinephrine taps into the sympathetic nervous system to ensure clarity, alertness, and focus. Norepinephrine establishes communication between the neurons and helps you to last longer. Therefore, Adderall function as an important drug for students to boost concentration.
